AEGIS SCRIBE 1.2 beta — READ ME
Free during the open beta.

FREE DURING THE OPEN BETA — PLEASE READ

This is Aegis Scribe 1.2 beta, a free public beta. It is free to download
and use during the open beta. Please download it only from the official
Aegis Scribe site. Future releases may require product activation.

This open beta expires on April 20, 2027. After that you can still
unlock, view and export your notes, but creating or editing notes
requires the full version.

NO WARRANTY
Aegis Scribe is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or
implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. It is beta software:
keep your signed notes in your EHR, which is the legal medical record.

Aegis Scribe drafts SOAP, DAP, and BIRP notes on this device. It is not a
certified EHR and is not HIPAA certified. Saved notes are encrypted on
device with a passphrase you choose — if you forget it (and made no
recovery key), they cannot be recovered by anyone. Do not invent exam
findings. Enable paste permission on your operating system when asked so
Send to EHR / CRM can fill the fields.

INSTALL

For Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit).

1. Unzip this archive to a folder on this PC (for example Documents\Aegis Scribe).
2. Double-click “Aegis Scribe.exe”.
If Windows SmartScreen says it is unrecognized, choose More info, then Run anyway.
3. Click I Understand on the legal notice, then choose a passphrase to create
your encrypted vault (there is no recovery without it or the optional
   recovery key).
4. Click Send to <EHR or CRM>, then click the first note field in that program.
Aegis uses the Windows clipboard and Ctrl+V / Tab. Keep the Aegis window
   open while you work.

This is a native Windows app, not a web page. It uses the Microsoft Edge
WebView that already ships with Windows 10 and 11. You do not need Python
or a separate browser window.

If Aegis asks for the WebView2 Runtime, install the Microsoft Edge WebView2
Runtime from Microsoft, then open the app again.

HOW TO SEND A NOTE INTO AN EHR OR CRM
1. Choose the destination (Epic, Kipu, Salesforce, etc.).
2. Paste a client quote and click Compose note. Review SOAP / DAP / BIRP.
3. Click Send to <system>.
4. Click the first note field in that system (Subjective, Data, or the
single notes box — not date or duration).
5. Aegis pastes when you leave this window. Multi-field forms receive
each section and Tab to the next box.

YOUR NOTES ARE ENCRYPTED ON DEVICE
On first launch you choose a passphrase. Saved notes and drafts are encrypted
with AES-256-GCM using a key derived from it (PBKDF2-SHA-256, 600,000
iterations). There is no recovery: if you forget the passphrase, your saved
notes cannot be recovered by anyone — including us — unless you created the
optional recovery key. Aegis locks after 5 minutes of inactivity (adjustable
in Settings), when its window is hidden or minimized, when the computer sleeps,
and with ⌘L / Ctrl+L. See NOTICE.txt for details.

Aegis Scribe is not HIPAA certified. Your organization still needs its own
safeguards (full-disk encryption, screen lock, policies, training).
